This video is an excellent source of 'how-to' information for the person who wants to get a head start on doing helper work. Several different dogs are worked by a first time helper alongside one of the best helpers in Germany. This program is a great tool for the handler that wants to teach a new helper how to safely work dogs. The basic mechanics of proper movement and fundamentals are discussed in detail without a dog prior to working with them. This DVD is packed with easy to follow instructions while each dog is worked. Professionally filmed, edited and produced. Runtime is one hour and ten minutes.

Empowering the Handler in Protection Training
The techniques that are demonstrated in this video can be used to improve performance in every aspect of protection work, including police and schutzhund sport. Eight different dogs are used to demonstrate the two collar training method with all of them showing consistent results. The helper only reacts to the handler to help switch drives between prey and aggression. This method reduces conflict and develops confidence in all areas of protection work. Clear signals from the handler enable the dog to show maximum power in the guarding phases, along with full commitment to the helper during the biting exercises. The hold and bark, escape exercise, the out with re-bite, along with obedience control is shown. This video is professionally filmed, edited, produced and is packed with detailed information and easy to follow instructions. Runtime is one hour and fifteen minutes.

Grip and Drive Development Training for Puppies
This video shows how to introduce young puppies to protection work. Puppies from eight to sixteen weeks old are shown. Regardless of their age all puppies with natural drive will respond to the method demonstrated. Introduction to the helper at an early age is important. If a puppy’s drive is fulfilled only by its handler it will require more stimulation from the helper when the dog is older. Imprinting active behavior towards someone else will encourage the dog to show maximum power with minimum agitation as it matures. The techniques used can be applied to every puppy no matter what kind of protection work they will be doing as an adult. This is full of valuable information for all ages of puppies and dogs starting protection training. Professionally edited and produced. Runtime approximately 45 minutes.

Obedience from the Beginning Part 2
This video shows the Kraftwerk training method for dogs that are over five months of age. It begins with showing how to transition the food reward to a play object to build drive. Drive is a term describing the emotional and physical energy that motivates the dog to act. Once optimum drive level is achieved, more advanced training can begin. This video shows how to balance a negative experience with a positive one in order to solidify correct behavior. It includes the techniques to master basic obedience exercises that every dog should know. A properly trained dog creates a enjoyable experience for both dog and owner. Lessons include: building drive, proper heeling, ‘unconditional down’ and ‘come when called’ commands.

Protection Training on the Tie-Out Pole
The training in this video shows ways to create balanced drive levels. It demonstrates how to transition clearly between aggression and prey drive. It also shows how to build grips and increase aggression in the guarding phase while maintaining handler control. Training on the tie-out pole gives both the hander and helper the best advantage to build a solid foundation of drive and control. The helper can work on grip development and aggression after the out without having to be concerned with the handler and dog moving from their original position. The handler can help his dog to transition from obedience to active aggression as he does not have to be concerned about holding the back-tie line in place. Several dogs of different temperaments are worked, all with varying needs. Whenever a specific area in training needs to be addressed it is always good to "Put'em back on the pole". Professionally filmed, edited and produced. Approximately one hour of exciting protection work and techniques.

On Target - Training Substance Detector Dogs DVD & VHS

On Target - Training Substance Detector Dogs - Detection 1
Description: This practical and thought-provoking tape introduces a revolutionary method for training drug and explosive detector dogs. It begins with a critical analysis and review of conventional detector dog training methods, and then presents a new method:
1) The handler is not the teacher, the dog teaches himself:
2) The dog is not just taught what odors and stimuli to respond to; he is also explicitly taught what NOT to respond to.
3) The dog is taught to ignore primary reward (ball) odors and stimuli unless they are encountered in conjunction with target odor.
The balance of the tape is devoted to achieving the detector dog trainer’s first three objectives:
1) Select a good detector dog prospect.
2) Teach target odor-reward association.
3) Condition the final response
(aggressive or passive alert).

Running time: 71 minutes

On Target- Training Substance Detector Dogs - Detection 2
Description: Tape two of this series shows how to use ground-breaking methods to accomplish the next five learning objectives in the training of drug and explosive detector dogs.
4) Teach the dog to divert its attention from reward to target odor.
5) Establish a cue for search behavior.
6) Teach the “oral response.”
7) Develop the dog’s ability to complete prolonged searches.
8) Teach the dog to ignore distracters.
Once these objectives are achieved, then the student detector dog will have achieved the special attributes of the trained detector dog: The dog will possess a crystal-clear understanding of his task, and he will display the kind of obedience to odor that makes it virtually impossible to disturb or distract him during search or indication. He will also exhibit an extraordinary degree of independence and self-belief while searching. Finally, the dog will display pronounced and obvious changes of behavior when he encounters target odor, accompanied by prolonged and intensive efforts to pinpoint the odor source prior to making a final indication.

Running time: 77 minutes

Obedience without Conflict 3: The Retrieve
Obedience without Conflict Video 3: The Retrieve Ivan's innovative approach to the divide between inducive and compulsive methods is bridged in this, the third, in the Obedience without Conflict series. Through the use of tension and minimum force, Ivan demonstrates this innovative technique for creating a world class retrieve through the isolation of the "hold" behavior. The distinction between holding and gripping is made clear and the topography of the retrieve is discussed and taught step by step.

This title covers the most challenging aspect of the retrieve exercise- speed and solid gripping under stimulus control. Through discrimination exercises the dog is also taught the cues for jumping and climbing through distraction while building a foundation for fast retrieving through unconflicted play. This title focuses on isolating speed while teaching correct holding through the use of a Retrieve Dowel, jumping and climbing behaviors under distraction and then combining the behaviors once taught and conditioned under independent stimulus control.

Broadcast Quality- 72 minutes. This title is heavily reliant upon the communication techniques and methods taught in Obedience without Conflict:
Clear Communication.
